Art Dinner

The Contemporary Austin’s inaugural Art Dinner on May 3, 2014, celebrated the launch of the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria and honored the Edward and Betty Marcus Foundation for its founding gift.

Guests enjoyed cocktails with artist Orly Genger as her new sculptural commission for The Contemporary Austin, Current, a monumental outdoor installation of woven rope that cascades down the outdoor amphitheater of Laguna Gloria, was unveiled. Composer and musician Graham Reynolds performed a new musical composition inspired by Current, followed by an elegant seated dinner featuring renowned local chefs.

Proceeds of the Art Dinner will benefit the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park’s program, providing funds for the exhibitions and conservation of the works of art. The inaugural Art Dinner was the capstone event of The Contemporary Austin's opening weekend for the spring/summer 2014 exhibitions A Secret Affair: Selections from the Fuhrman Family Collection and Orly Genger: Current, along with celebrating the official launch of the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria.
