The Contemporary Austin offers hands-on programs designed to enhance your family’s visit. Learn together and build a lifelong love of the arts! Admission is FREE daily for ages 18 and under, and also free on Second Saturdays, each Tuesday, and for our Members and military guests.

Second Saturdays
The Contemporary Austin offers FREE hands-on art-making workshops each month, inspired by the exhibitions on view. Join us to see family-friendly performances, meet local artists, and make art to take home. Recommended for ages 2–11. Reservations are requested to participate in art-making workshops due to limited space; please reserve your spot at the links below beginning the 1st of each month.
Second Saturdays are held from 11A–3P at Laguna Gloria unless otherwise noted.

Explore the art, grounds, and history of Laguna Gloria at your own pace with a family and kid-friendly backpack stocked with art-making activities, games, and puzzles. Available in both English and Spanish.

Art School
The Contemporary Austin's Art School at Laguna Gloria offers an engaging environment for students of all ages to explore art of all mediums with accomplished faculty. Find out more and enroll here.

The Contemporary Austin is proud to take part in the Austin Museum Partnership’s annual citywide cultural celebration. Along with over forty institutions around Austin, we offer engaging performances, art-making activities, artist demonstrations, docent-led tours of the exhibitions, and free admission.
