ART SCHOOL / CLASS LISTINGS
Basics of Metal Casting
Learn metal casting—used by sculptors for 7,000 years—through this introduction to foundry and mold-making practices. Working from simple positives (the original form of the desired casting), students learn one- and two-part sand molds, principles of furnace design, safe casting procedures, and metal finishing techniques. Students create at least one completed cast sculpture in aluminum (included in course) or bronze (for a small additional cost).
