ART SCHOOL / CLASS LISTINGS
Constructing Identity through Collage
Jump into the experimental medium of collage to create artwork using magazine clippings, pop culture findings, and decorative paper. In this class, your child will explore the mixed media collages in Deborah Roberts' current exhibition at our Jones Center location, and learn about the history of collage through the works of Romare Bearden, Hannah Hoch, and others. Deborah Roberts' work addresses racial and sexual inequality and uses collage to explore how identity is altered through the eyes of the media. Use a variety of papers, adhesives, and techniques to build form, create space, mix colors with papers, incorporate images, and much more!
