Contemporary Art 101

Join us for a series of stimulating lectures and conversation on Zoom led by art historian, educator, curator, and Executive Director of Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson, Kate Green, Ph.D.

In this session of Contemporary Art 101, we will focus on artists whose work provides perspectives on the role of art museums in society today. The artists covered in the image-driven participatory lectures represent various generations, moments in recent art history, and identities, and engage with a range of media, including sculpture, painting, performance, public interventions, and interactive online platforms. Over the course, students will acquire tools for assessing how these artists and others make use of the framework of art and the art museum to address some of the most urgent issues of our time.

Dates: Thursdays, October 22, October 29, November 5, and November 12

Time: 6-7P

Cost: $150 for four-class series

Registration is available to current members of The Contemporary Austin. Please have your membership ID number ready.
