Creating in Response to Art History: Isms

Have you ever wanted to learn more about Surrealism, Impressionism, and Abstract Expressionism? In this class we will study different art history movements, or isms, and create an artwork in response to each art history time period. This course provides a general overview of art history in a more diverse and equitable way, including artists from across the world. Starting with the Cave Paintings at Lasqueax, we will work our way up to contemporary artists such as Yayoi Kusama, and her popular Infinity Rooms. We will spend time gaining introductory skills to drawing, painting, printmaking, and small sculptures inspired by each time period ism.
