Allowing for the definition of art as paying attention as well as the notion that creativity is simply the mind at play, this class will emphasize an improvisational approach to working with the particularities of place. Over the course of a weekend, students will travel to multiple locations, where they will be encouraged to create work from whatever is at hand, cobbling together serendipitous sculptures in situ. All activities will be ephemeral in nature, perpetuating only through photo/video documentation. Discussions will center on ideas/ideals of impermanence and creating in public or private space using everyday materials. There is no tuition for this workshop. Interested students should please see the Art School website for information about how to enroll.
