Pigment Labs: Make Your Own Watercolors

Explore the art and science of making artistic mediums from scratch. In this class, we’ll work both individually and collaboratively to craft our own watercolor pigments. After creating handcrafted paints, we’ll experiment with them if time allows. All levels are welcome as we get to know our favorite mediums on a new level.

Most supplies provided, but not all! Everyone should bring their own pad of watercolor paper — it will be an ideal surface for all of our medium explorations. It will be helpful to bring a pencil, eraser, and some of your own paintbrushes as well: both soft watercolor and stiffer brushes. All other ingredients and tools will be provided.
