Pots Off the Wheel: Hand Building Functional Pottery

Adults

Explore inventive hand-building techniques for making functional pottery in this fun, informative class. Students will be introduced to a variety of projects that utilize slabs, flat coil building, and pinching techniques. Learn to create your own simple templates. Follow along with demonstrations to discover the relaxed pace and creative potential of hand building. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with underglaze colors, in addition to standard high-fire glazes. All levels are welcome. Tuition includes guaranteed access to two Ceramics Open Studio sessions per registered class. Ceramics Open Studio is an opportunity to practice skills outside class. A sign up sheet will be available when class starts. Given the complexities of firing, we cannot guarantee student work will be fired in the order in which it was received. Students will be emailed each time the kiln has been fired and unloaded. Because of limited space we can only hold onto finished pieces for three (3) weeks and will discard any unclaimed pieces after the posted date.
