Realism to Abstraction

Adults

Select a single object as your subject matter from nature, and small enough to fit in your hand. From this source, you will begin a series of small realistic pencil works. Through modulation and shifts in orientation and scale, you’ll use these works as a starting point to create a larger scale abstract charcoal drawing using unity, variety and repetition to create movement, space and depth. This beginning could develop into group of thematic drawings that you can continue to develop outside of this class—a real portfolio builder!
