Sculptural Welding

Adults

Learn the basics of welding and steel fabrication and its potential for sculpture. Discover how to move from 2-D to 3-D by studying line and volume, and create a small welded steel sculpture using techniques learned in class. This class also explores the work of sculptors who operated at the intersection of art and industry, including David Smith, Anthony Caro, Mark di Suvero, and Richard Serra.

All supplies provided! Please wear appropriate clothes for an art studio (dress for mess!). Closed-toe shoes are required for wood, metal, stone, or other sculpture classes. Eye and ear protection is provided, but some students prefer to bring their own which you are welcome to do.
