Discover the natural and artistic wonders of Laguna Gloria, one walk at a time! Free with museum admission.
Get off the beaten path and experience Laguna Gloria in ways you’ve never imagined in our last Walk in the Park workshop of the year. Over the course of 2021 we’ve been working with “observer-in-residence” Ann Armstrong to create new self-guided tours that reveal the park through sound, color, natural form, and the resilience of the plants throughout the site.
If you enjoy maps, scavenger hunts, sensory treasures, or observing the natural world, this is for you! Drop in during our open hours to test drive the final resource that the Walk in the Park series generated. Use our newly minted mini-guides to help further your own discoveries, observations, reflections, and creations. Then, share your experience with us! Ann Armstrong will be present from 10A–2P to gather user feedback.
Masks are required, comfortable shoes and a smart phone are encouraged. Guides are first come, first served so arrive early for your best chance at sampling the new resources.
Ann Armstrong is Observer-in-Residence of the 2021 A Walk in the Park series. She loves sparking curiosity by developing tools and frameworks to connect people with place. She’s been gathering hand-drawn maps of Austin since 2012 and is slowly building an idiosyncratic, hyper-local atlas to the city. She is also a co-founder of the Odditree Society. Along with her place literacy work, she designs and builds tiny houses, paints murals, creates public art, and fabricates sculptures out of wood and steel.
