Abraham Cruzvillegas embraces the concept of autoconstrucción—loosely defined as “self-constructing”—in a vibrant artistic practice imbued with a sense of constant becoming, a curiosity to learn and share information.
Love reading but crushed under the weight of all your books? Bring a book or two or three to share at the museum, where for one week Abraham Cruzvillegas’s exhibition will become an expanding library of exchanged books. Pass along a favorite novel or art book, let go of that taunting tome you still haven’t read, cross lanes into a genre you rarely pick up, or share your zine or self-published work. All types of books in fair condition are welcome.
This book exchange will also benefit incarcerated readers, so bring an extra book donation for Inside Books Project—an Austin-based community service volunteer organization that sends free books and educational materials to prisoners in Texas. Please see donation requests from inmates and book restrictions here.
Ongoing during museum hours Tuesday, April 9 through Tuesday, April 16.
