Join us at east side art and community space Nepantla (1209 E Cesar Chavez St) and step into the world of Teddy Sandoval and the Butch Gardens School of Art as artist Beth Schindler brings its spirit to life for one night only.
Paying homage to the legendary Los Angeles bar-turned-art-school Butch Gardens, as imagined by Teddy Sandoval, The Butch Gardens School of Art Celebration is a vibrant homage to queer lineage, Chicanx futurity, and the playful subversion at the heart of Sandoval’s practice.
Sip complimentary cocktails and move through an evening charged with community, fantasy, and irresistible rhythm, featuring DJ sets by Javiii and Mosaico X, plus special performances by multidisciplinary artist Andie Flores. Blurring borders between celebration and performance, past and possible futures, the event invites guests to inhabit the iconic world Sandoval dreamed up — reimagined through sound, movement, and collective joy.
Come dance, honor a legacy, and help conjure the mythic halls of Butch Gardens into the present.
