Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami’s masterpiece tells a direct but multifaceted true story of a man who impersonates a famous filmmaker. The film stars the actual participants in the events depicted. Guest programmer Huma Bhabha’s artwork shares themes of Kiarostami’s film: those of impersonation and identity, and the tensions between documentary “truth” and fiction.

Directed by Abbas Kiarostami, Iran, 1990, 35mm, 100 min. In Persian and Azerbaijani with English Subtitles.
