About the Exhibitions and Artists:
Exploring the complex layering of identities, histories, and artistic legacies that have influenced Eamon Ore-Giron‘s (b. 1973; lives and works in Los Angeles) approach to painting, Competing with Lightning / Rivalizando con el relámpago marks the first presentation to examine the artist’s trajectory over more than twenty years of creative practice.
On view in our newest exhibition space inside the Jones Center, HOST, are works by Celeste, an artist duo based in Mexico City formed by María Fernanda Camarena (b. Guadalajara, 1988) and Gabriel Rosas Alemán (b. Mexico City, 1983). For their exhibition at The Contemporary, Celeste has debuted a new textile painting specifically created for the brand-new gallery space, alongside new wall-mounted copper sculptures. The exhibition is conceived as an environment that visitors may enter and activate. A series of public programs will accompany the exhibition.
