Was the Jejune Institute a cult? Was it an elaborate alternative reality game? Told from the participants’ perspectives, The Institute, 2013, looks at an emergent new art form where real world and fictional narratives collide to create unforeseen, unsettling consequences. Fusing elements of counterculture, religious movements, and street art, the film invites viewers into a secret world teeming beneath the surface of everyday life.
