About Midnight Navy
Midnight Navy is a singer-songwriter, saxophonist, and producer based in Austin, Texas. His musical style ranges from alternative r&b to bedroom pop to lo-fi psychedelic indie soul. His unique musical lens draws from his Mexican heritage, along with his love for pop culture and sweet melodies. In Midnight Navy’s most recent EP, "De Melón", he pays homage to his chicano roots through the use of spanish vocals and vibrant percussion sounds, along with his own interpretation of what it means to find love in the digital age.

About contener

For the first exhibition in the HOST gallery space, located inside the Jones Center, Mexico City-based artist duo Celeste have installed a large textile painting and designed a long, curved bench with the intention of creating an intimate environment, or container, in which performances and other community events can take place.

In response to Celeste’s installation Mario Villanueva, The Contemporary Austin’s Experience and Engagement Manager, created contener as a monthly performance series. In the spirit of gathering to support other artists, contener will feature different musicians every second Wednesday of the month while Celeste’s work is on view. These specially planned monthly events are set to take place inside the exhibition space, creating an intimate experience for participants.

While you’re here, explore the stunning exhibition Eamon Ore-Giron: Competing with Lightning / Rivalizando con el relámpago, also on view at the Jones Center. And be sure to head to the rooftop for an after-hours view of beautiful downtown Austin.
