Neon traces the history of the Communist-era neon signs that light up Warsaw, Poland. These Socialist-blessed neons mimicked the color, dazzle, and glamour of capitalist cities without crossing the line of commercial advertising.

Directed by Eric Bednarski, this documentary follows the arc of signage across twentieth-century Poland and explores the context of the signs’ creation, the people and places connected with them, their disrepair, and the renewed interest in their preservation. (2015, 52 min.)
