One of Spain’s most renowned filmmakers, Carlos Saura follows architect Renzo Piano during the construction of his iconic project—the Centro Botín art gallery, located on the Bay of Santander in Spain. Piano, a Pritzker Architecture Prize winner and master of museum design, has shown a unique ability to create buildings that integrate perfectly with their surroundings, where life is lived through art and culture.
From its elevated glass and steel walkways to the 280,000 round ceramic tiles that reflect the sunlight and the sea, the Centro Botín makes a strong visual statement. Presented through spectacular and poetic images, Saura shows us the beauty and character of the surrounding landscape and the process of creating a building that is also a work of art.
Directed by Carlos Saura, 2018, 80 minutes.
