Rooftop Sessions

Open to everyone! Admission will be walk-up only, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join us on the rooftop overlooking downtown, where music and complimentary drinks will set the vibe for a night of art and camaraderie. Explore the exhibitions Daniel Johnston: I Live My Broken Dreams and Crit Group Reunion, meet some of the featured local artists, and hear about their work while you connect with fellow art lovers from all over Austin.

This month, you can also enjoy a special screening by Crit Group alum Sandy Carson who will be at the museum with filmmaker Karen Skloss to screen their documentary film-in-progress MR JERRY. Soon after filmmaker Karen Skloss settled her father, recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, into a nursing home close to her residence in Austin, Texas, the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown hit. MR JERRY chronicles Karen’s battle to stay connected to her father with the window to his facility room their only means of communication. The moving story of one family’s will to survive and perhaps even thrive in the most uncertain of times, MR JERRY shines a light on female caregivers while bearing witness to the resilience of our elders who have battled through a tumultuous time, and those who are trying to protect them.

20-minute excerpts of MR JERRY will screen inside the museum, every half hour beginning at 6:30. (Image still from MR JERRY, 2021.)

Capacity is limited and masks are required indoors.
