Step away from the pursuit of perfect proportions and discover new ways to capture the essence of a figure through abstract portrait painting. Using reference images as inspiration, students will explore loose, expressive painting techniques that emphasize mood, gesture, color, and character over realism. Through experimentation and observation, participants will create portraits that reveal the spirit of their chosen subject.
