Guided Projects in Metalworking

Adults

An open studio format class with at-request feedback and guidance from an expert instructor. Students will work at their own pace to complete existing projects, or create something new outside of planned lessons, demos, or prompts. Expect light instruction and regular, individual consultation with the instructor. An assortment of basic steel stock will be provided, however students may need to purchase additional materials for larger or specialized projects. Beginning Metalworking and Metals 2.0 are both prerequisites for this class.

Some supplies provided. Students will be asked to purchase specialty metals or materials for projects according to their project needs. We recommend you purchase your own set of leather work gloves to ensure a proper fit for dexterity. Please wear jeans or work pants, a tee shirt and bring a long sleeve shirt. Clothes should be of cotton or predominantly cotton blend. Wear leather boots, or shoes that fully cover feet. Pants need to cover ankles and top of shoe/ boot.

Warning: Magnetic fields found in this class can be harmful to pacemaker wearers. Pregnant welders are at risk of suffering adverse pregnancy outcomes. If you have a pacemaker or are pregnant, please do not register for any metalworking classes with the Art School.
