An Evening with Boots Riley

On Mar 26 (Thurs) at 7P, join us for a special evening with acclaimed filmmaker, writer, musician, and activist Boots Riley at Austin Film Society Cinema (6259 Middle Fiskville Road).

In anticipation of the release of Riley’s second feature-length film I Love Boosters (in theaters May 22), this event is organized as a counterpart to the program In Conversation: Sable Elyse Smith, Boots Riley, & Rizvana Bradley being held at The Contemporary Austin - Jones Center the evening prior, on March 25 (Wed).
 
Tickets will launch on Mar 13 (Fri).

ABOUT BOOTS RILEY

Boots Riley, whose best-known works include the award-winning film Sorry to Bother You and the seven-part television series I’m a Virgo, is beloved by critics and audiences alike, celebrated for embedding messages regarding economic and class critique within his often surreal and satirical works. In addition to his work in film and television, Riley is the author of the acclaimed collection of essays “Tell Homeland Security – We Are the Bomb,” as well as the founding member and lead vocalist of The Coup and Street Sweeper Social Club, featuring Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine of guitar. A dedicated community-based activist, Riley was deeply involved with the Occupy Oakland movement and was one of the leaders of the activist group The Young Comrades.
