Before I Die… The Global Interactive Art Project

Presented in partnership with the Sustainable Food Center The interactive art project Before I Die… invites people of all ages to share their personal aspirations in a public space. New Orleans–based artist Candy Chang created the original wall on an abandoned house in her neighborhood, inspired by the grief of losing a loved one. Stenciling the open phrase “Before I die I want to ___” onto a painted wall, Chang invited the public to pick up a piece of chalk and share reflections on and hopes for their lives. Since the original wall in New Orleans in 2011, over 400 re-creations of Before I Die… have occurred in over sixty countries and thirty languages around the world. Teens from The Contemporary Austin’s Teen Council and Young Artists programs will create and present Candy Chang’s Before I Die… project at the SFC Farmers’ Market – DowntownCome sample the seasonal flavors of the market, support the local community, and contribute to this acclaimed, inspirational global art project! Made possible in part by a grant from the Downtown Austin Alliance.   Special thanks to: Sustainable Food Center
