Austin-based artist RF. Alvarez is bringing his very sought after (and very intimate) LOVERS sessions to the Jones Center.
Typically held at the artist's studio, LOVERS is a series of nude life drawing sessions accompanied by mezcal tastings, hosted and curated by artist RF. Alvarez. Each is built around a central theme that drives model choice, poses, and mezcal pairings.
This two hour, candle-lit session, titled “Adonis,” will feature a single, muscular male model and three mezcals from varying agaves to highlight structure, depth, and story, along with high quality charcoal and paper, and instruction from Alvarez.
Artists of all levels are welcome. LOVERS is about building community, being present, and finding artistic confidence.

Strictly 21+
This special offering is programmed as part of Rooftop Sessions: Summer Lovin', featuring rooftop dance floor sets by Country Fried Dance and Neon Rainbows, and the soft launch of curator Phillip A. Townsend's new catalogue Transcendence: A Century of Black Queer Ecstasy, 1924–2024.

RF. Alvarez is an Austin-based artist whose figurative paintings are characterized by evocative scenes that blend personal memory with romantic allegory. Alvarez and his work have been featured in Texas Monthly, Cultured Magazine, and The New York Times. He has had solo shows in Austin, London, Los Angeles and New York, and has exhibited in art fairs including The Armory, NADA Miami, and Felix Los Angeles. He was recently awarded the Delfina Prize at The Armory Fair and will spend the fall in London as part of the prestigious residency program at the Delfina Foundation. LOVERS is Alvarez's first venture outside of his full-time art practice, and he hopes to bring together the local community through artistic learning, creative exploration, and delicious agave spirits.
