Advocate Members and above of The Contemporary Austin are invited to an exclusive viewing of Charlie Mae and Espo Does, with a special appearance by the artist. Enjoy cocktails, interactive experiences, and a conversation with Steve “ESPO” Powers as he shares insights into his work and activates the space in his signature style.
 

About the artist

Stephen “ESPO” Powers is a leading figure in contemporary art whose practice bridges graffiti, sign painting, and conceptual art. Over the past decade, he has had museum exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, SFMOMA, the Stedelijk Museum in Breda, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa. Known for his text-based works that blend humor, poetry, and social observation, ESPO has also created large-scale public murals around the world—from Philadelphia to New York, Tokyo, and beyond. His work translates everyday language into a distinct visual form, exploring themes of love, place, and human connection with both wit and emotional resonance.
