Co-presented by The Contemporary Austin, Collide Arts, and Fusebox Festival, spend the afternoon steeped in the living landscape of Laguna Gloria.
Embark on a guided walk exploring the diversity of tree species with local arborists, and learn about restoration efforts in the area. The journey continues into an outdoor, in-progress concert presentation of Music for Trees, the latest collaboration by musicians Graham Reynolds and Jeffrey Zeigler.
Commissioned by Golden Hornet, Music for Trees is an immersive fusion of music, film, and science that examines the ancient, mysterious, and wondrous world of trees--the lungs of our planet. Blending live scoring and concert performance with documentary and tree-inspired video, the final docu-concert features film work by Emmy-winning director Mario Tronscoso highlighting emergent research by today's scientsts.
Reflecting on the subtle sonic world of trees and their gradual, imperceptible growth patterns, the quiet and contemplative music by Reynolds and Zeigler punctuates with peaking mezzo piano, held aloft by delicate textures and unhurried tempos that engage deeper listening, reflection, and connection.

Called “the quintessential modern composer” by the London Independent, Austin-based composer-bandleader-improviser Graham Reynolds records and performs music for film, theater, dance, rock clubs, and concert halls. Amidst his many other projects, Graham also serves as the Artistic Director of the new music focused non-profit Golden Hornet.

Cellist and multidisciplinary artist Jeffrey Zeigler has established himself as one of the most innovative and versatile musicians of our time, with a body of work that spans across different genres, themes, and formats, from solo to opera to chamber and interdisciplinary collaborations. Artistically beyond categorization and fiercely independent, Strings Magazine hailed Zeigler as “widely known for pushing boundaries and breaking conventions,” while The New York Times praised his playing as “fiery... with unforced simplicity and beauty of tone.”
This event is programmed in partnership with Fusebox and in conjunction with Fusebox Festival 2026, a biannual city-wide initiative bringing artists from across the world to Austin for live performances, installations, conversations, workshops, and gatherings. Learn more at https://fuseboxlive.com/
