Second Saturdays Are for Families: Create at Home with Teruko Nimura

Order your free artmaking kit here beginning February 1. Your kit will include a guide and all the materials you’ll need to complete the project. Kits will be available for pick up February 12–13 from 9A–3P, at Laguna Gloria.

Artist Teruko Nimura makes wondrous creations by hand. She draws upon her Asian heritage, using origami and other forms of paper sculpture to create art that peaks the imagination, engages, and connects viewers. This month, we are pleased to present a make-at-home prayer flag kit created by Nimura especially for us, at a time when we could all use some creative fun and connection. This kit originally debuted in Tacoma Washington and has found its way to Austin, Texas.

In your kit, you’ll find everything you'll need to create your own bright and beautiful prayer flags, right in the comfort of your own home. Prayer flags are believed by some to spread peace, positive energy, and goodwill far and wide, as they are blown by the wind.
