Second Saturdays Are for Families: Sound Explorers

Did you know you have a musical instrument builder inside you? Flex your melodic muscles in this hands-on instrument invention workshop. Inspired by our current exhibition, Tarek Atoui: The Whisperers, we’ll be using natural and everyday objects to invent new instruments and fresh sounds. Test out your creations using underwater mics and other technology to experiment with the new noises you create.

While you're here, check out Tarek Atoui’s new sound sculpture, Whispered Pulses. Through an assemblage of cisterns and underwater microphones, the work creates a varied soundscape and encourages you to slow down and listen to the surrounding environment.

Reserve your spot here beginning July 1. Each time slot has a limited capacity. Reserve your spot beginning the first of each month.

Winner of the 2022 Suzanne Deal Booth / FLAG Art Foundation Prize, Tarek Atoui (Lebanese, born 1980 in Beirut) is a Paris-based artist and composer whose work explores the medium of sound.
