Arnold Schwarzenegger makes an unforgettable impression in the titular role of a near-silent cyborg assassin sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor, whose son would eventually lead the resistance against Skynet—the sentient AI defense network responsible for a nuclear holocaust. James Cameron’s The Terminator is a streamlined and tightly-directed thrill ride. A fan of science fiction, guest programmer Huma Bhabha’s artwork also explores the space between cybernetic and organic life, war, the postapocalypse, and pop culture.

Directed by James Cameron, USA, 1984, DCP, 108 min.
