Each year, The Contemporary Austin hosts two major back-to-back fundraising events. Over the fall season, more than 1,500 visitors descend on Laguna Gloria for Art Dinner’s intimate gala and The Very ‘Rary’s all-ages funfest. These events attract Austinites from all walks of life, spanning the region’s most illustrious industry leaders to art seeking kids and their families.

The most anticipated event of the gala season, Art Dinner welcomes over 300 art luminaries, collectors, civic leaders, and philanthropists to Laguna Gloria for an unforgettable evening celebrating the powerful impact of art in our community. Extending the festivities, the Afterparty provides an opportunity for an additional 300 people from an up-and-coming demographic to immerse themselves in Austin’s philanthropic art scene.

Tables sales and proceeds from the art auction and paddles up raise critical support for the museum’s groundbreaking exhibitions and award-winning education programs. Additionally, artists participating in the auction can receive up to 50% of the proceeds from their artwork sale, demonstrating The Contemporary’s ongoing commitment to supporting working artists. The Very ‘Rary

Every year, this event invites more than 1,000 children and their families to experience artful activities and spellbinding performances on the enchanting, lakeside grounds of Laguna Gloria. 

From slime concocting and mold making, to live music and immersive art, The Very ‘Rary inspires Austin’s youth to harness their creative prowess and try something new.
